Shoot and Burn Photography - is this the future?

Kelly & BrettI recently received a phone enquiry from a prospective client who enquired about our services. She was after photo coverage on the day plus all the images on a disk.

I explained that although that was a service many photographers provided, we provide quite a bit more and our services provided quality photographs in a custom designed album and that although a disk of images can be included in some of our packages, it isn't the focus of our services. I provide something quite special and creative.

She explained that the trend is for photographers to just provide images on a disk and what I was offering wasn't of interest. I agreed and suggested that perhaps I wasn't the type of photographer she was looking for. We both agreed and our conversation went on and finished very amicably that we were both right.

It is clear that there are many photographers offering a shoot and burn service. (Shoot and burn is where the photographer take the photos on the wedding day and provides the couple with a disk of images). And this is all ok! Different strokes for different folks.

We are appealing to a different type of clientelle. Couples who want the best possible photo coverage, the highest quality, enhanced images and a beautifully creative album. Something to cherish forever.

Our philosophy on this subject is that using a camera is only half the job. Providing our clients with fully processed and enhanced images in a creative presentation (such as an album) is the full service.

Having said that, in addition to this full service, we can also provide images on disks, albums on DVD, `coffee table book' style albums and a number of other `add-on' services.

There is no right or wrong with what type of photographer you choose, as long as they meet your expectations. If you are someone who appreciates quality and would like something different to everyone else then we can be of service!
